Wherever you read "the monk is ... "you would do well to substitute the words "the monk strives to ..." For a brother is an imperfect human being, first and last. But he knows that with Christ's help he stands a chance of working towards the ideals he has chosen. It's been that way since our founders arrived in 1944, and it will be that way as long as we continue to pray and sing and work and be --- as our neighbors call us --- "the monks."
