Death of Brother Kenneth Sullivan, OCSO (1928-2013)

Brother Kenneth (Ken) Sullivan, 85, monk of the Monastery of the Holy Spirit died peacefully at the monastery’s infirmary on Monday December 2, 2013.

The burial service at the celebration of the Mass of Christian Burial will be Friday December 6th at 9:00AM at the monastery church. Brother Ken was born February 1928 in Newport, Rhode Island. His parents were Daniel Sullivan and Margaret (Shea) Sullivan. Brother Ken is survived by his brother Daniel (Carolyn) of Little Compton, Rhode Island, his sister Therese (Sullivan) Croteau of Newport, Rhode Island, and sister in law Patricia (Moore) Sullivan of Portland Maine. Brother Ken was preceded in death by his brother Vincent.

Brother Ken is an alumni of De La Salle Academy in Newport and Portsmouth Abbey. He enlisted into the Army Reserve in 1953 and served as a specialist 3rd class and chaplain’s assistant. Brother Ken entered Our Lady of the Holy Spirit Monastery in 1969 and made his solemn monastic vows on 1975. He served the monastic community as Store Manager for 17 years and mail clerk. Brother had been in monastic vows for 44 years when the Lord called him. Memorial donations may be sent in Brother Ken’s memory to the Monastery of the Holy Spirit, 2625 Highway 212 SW, Conyers, GA 30094.
