Conservation Burial Ground

The Monastery community offers a quiet and beautiful resting place for people of all faiths, as well as those who have struggled to find faith. We are pleased to provide our land and promise to reverently protect it for those who share it with us.

Nestled into more than 1,000 acres of permanently protected wetlands, streams and native hardwood forests, Honey Creek Woodlands is protected by a strong conservation easement and an endowment created from a portion of plot sales. The 70 acres of Monastery land designated for the burial grounds contains hundreds of plant species and abundant wildlife.

NATURAL CEMETERIES AND GREEN BURIAL

Natural cemeteries save land and create significant nature preserves. Natural or “green” burial is simple and affordable. A plain pine box or shroud is used in a return to traditional practices. Cremated remains are also accepted.

THE BENEFITS OF HONEY CREEK WOODLANDS

  • Honoring all faiths, Honey Creek Woodlands offers families
  • A return to simple and traditional burial

  • A place to visit and contemplate

  • An affordable alternative to other cemeteries

COMPARING COSTS

The total funeral and burial costs at Honey Creek Woodlands can be thousands of dollars less than “modern” funeral services. Additionally, a portion of plot sales is invested into a permanent endowment to ensure ongoing conservation and restoration work, leaving a legacy for future generations.
